🔍This resource kit and workshop is for participants, families and their allies who are just starting to think about Specialist Disability Accommodation, don’t yet have it in their NDIS plan but are curious what it is all about.
💡 This is your practical, plain-language guide to getting SDA right from the very beginning. 

💡 What is Specialist Disability Accommodation? 

  • 💰 SDA is extra money for some people who use the National Disability Insurance Scheme. 
  • 📊 Only around 6% of people in the National Disability Insurance Scheme can get SDA. 
  • 🏡 SDA helps you buy or rent a home that is new and accessible. 
  • 📉 If you rent, your rent will be at the low public housing rate. 
  • 🧱 You can use SDA payments to help you pay to own your own accessible home. 
  • 💵 SDA can pay up to $120,000 each year for your home. 
  • 📅 This money can be paid for up to 20 years.

🧍 This Resource Kit is for people who are new to Specialist Disability Accommodation.  👨‍👩‍👦 It is for people, families and supporters.  💭 It is for people who do not have SDA in their National Disability Insurance Scheme plan yet, or who do, but just don’t really understand what it is.  ❓ It is for people who are curious, want a stable home and want to learn more. 

❓ What Will These Resources and Workshop Explain?

  • 📖 You will learn what SDA is and why it is important for your life. 
  • ✅ You will learn who can get SDA and how to apply for it. 
  • 📐 You will learn about different types of homes and design standards. 
  • 📋 You will learn what reports and assessments you will need to try to get it in your plan. 
  • 👥 You will learn how to build a strong support team. 
  • 🎯 You will learn how to have the best chance of getting SDA. 
  • 🚫 You will learn what to do if your SDA request is not approved. 
👋 You do not have to come to our live workshop (you can watch the recording after) but we would love to see you and explain things in our straightforward way. 🗨️ We like to use clear words and answer your tricky questions.

🕤 It starts at 9:30 AM (SA Time.)
⌛ It will finish at 11:30 AM (SA Time).
💻 It is online, so you can watch on your computer, tablet, or phone.

💵 How Much Does It Cost?

💲 The workshop costs $168.90.
📧 You will get a personal standard invoice by email after you book.
💳 You pay the invoice straight away (this will hold your spot) or
📤 You can send the invoice to your plan manager to pay if you are plan managed.
✅ You can usually claim this cost on your NDIS plan.
🔹 When you book, you can pick the right line item for your invoice.
🔹 This helps your plan manager claim it from the right category.
🔎 You can check with your plan manager before you book.
🗑️ Look in your junk mail if you do not see the invoice.
⏰ If you book late, use a credit card straight away to make sure you don't miss out.
🚫 Your place is not guaranteed until we receive your payment.

🎥 What Will You Get?

📄 You will get the resource kit with a copy of the slides and a checklist and/or workbook of important information.
🎞️ You will get a video link a few days after the session so you can watch it again, or in case you missed the live session. It will be available to watch for two months.
🗣️ You will get a link to the auto-transcription for the session.

  • 🤝 Advises government and helps improve disability on the NDIS IAC (Independent Advisory Council).
  • ✍️ Writes and speaks about the NDIS in plain language.
